  1. Every option they add during alpha, they have to test and debug with every change they make to the game. Adding an option like this which would appeal to such a niche audience would not be likely because of this. There have been many requests to add optional sliders to turn off specific zombies or animals, turn off digging zombies, turn off sleeper respawns, etc. Those options also have not been added, because during the development process they only add options they feel are necessary and that they feel are worth keeping updated, tested and debugged. Before gold, they will likely revisit the options available when creating a game, but quite likely not until then. In the meantime, they keep the game easily moddable so that you can customize the game to your preference.
  2. Is there a way to mod the workstations to increase the crafting speed? If so, you could just make the workstation crafting be 10x faster or something like that. Or when you log in, just throw away an equivalent amount of base materials and grab the processed materials from creative.
  3. single player or multiplayer? which mods are you using? Do you mean the 4x4, or are you using a mod that adds hummers? logs? instructions for how to obtain them are pinned.
  4. if i do mine extensively in 1 area, i do support columns every 6 blocks, but i also do ceiling supports between the columns. So a column, 5 empty spaces, then another column. but at the top of the two columns, a row of wood blocks connecting them. I haven't had a mine collapse doing it that way.
  5. Motion sensors can detect you in a vehicle. Pressure plates don't, so with them you have to get out of the vehicle. It will work better if you use the motion sensor settings so that the bridge stays down for 8-10 seconds though.
  6. Unless the infection kills them and then causes the body to arise and look for brains.
  7. It can easily be done with motion sensors though. The inside and outside motion sensors need to be wired directly to each other with nothing in between (relay, switches, etc) and then to the door.
  8. You may get more help by posting this in the discussions and requests section of the modding subforum. Good luck.
  9. Make sure to decrease the resolution to as low as possible while maintaining the same ratio. On my old computer, that was the one biggest thing that made the game comfortably playable.
  10. Please don't make grilled, boiled, or charred meat. It is a waste of raw meat. Put one point into master chef and make bacon and eggs and red tea. Drink the tea before you eat for the digestion buff. You won't have to eat nearly so often. Somehow you completely missed something here. Increasing perception increases the damage you do with spears. Points into spears themselves gives you increased damage, range on throws, and increased crafting quality. There is no other attribute you can put points into to make better spears. The cement mixer schematic is a common lootable item from broken cement mixers. If your trader does not have a working one you can use, loot the houses under construction and other construction sites. (Break one block in each garage door you pass and peak in to see if there is a workbench in there if you need the workbench schematic.) I believe broken workstations have a 20% or 25% chance to drop the schematic and some construction sites have 2 cement mixers. Broken forges are harder to find, so the one point into advanced engineering is a must for me. If you don't find the schematic easily, you should at least be able to find a working cement mixer in the world. Mark it on your map and use it. A lot of things you are struggling with becomes trivial once you get comfortable with the changes. I never have any problems with hunger because i know how to manage food and hunger. You are still learning, which is fine. However, the fact you haven't yet figured out how to manage food and hunger does not mean the game mechanic is broken. It is easily managed.
  11. Just fyi, since you are talking about using this set up in a garage. Vehicles do not activate pressure plates, so use a motion sensor on the side you are driving in from.
  12. You may want to post this in the darkness falls thread. The mod author happily answers questions like this several times daily.
  13. If you only encounter 1 zombie, sure. However, if you encounter a group of 4 zombies, it is 12 hits vs 20 on hard, with 1 less zombie to fight each time you kill one. On easy, it is 4 hits vs 8, with one zombie dying and thus not still trying to hit you, with each hit. If you can't see that can mean the difference between living and dying for someone who is not very skilled at the game, you are just not looking. And again, the fact that you believe a perk to be "such a crap" does not make it so for other people in other situations. People who don't do a lot of mining consider the mining perks to be crap. People who don't use the trader or rarely use the trader consider better barter and daring adventurer crap. People who stick to the town they make their base in would consider grease monkey a crap way to use points. People who play solo would consider charismatic nature crap, since it only benefits multiplayer. People who live strictly off of scavenged food and drinks would consider living off the land and master chef crap. You are confusing your perception of the value added by perks as the absolute value. I specifically said "larger multiplayer". adding 2-3 more people makes it more difficult but still manageable for me. Larger multiplayer (6-8) makes it much more difficult. As for the stamina penalty, I have never seen a 10%. It is always higher. And many people use melee weapons efficiently and have fun with them. Stamina penalties affect them a lot. While you are unable to use melee weapons effectively and have fun with them, many people can and do. Those people care about stamina and thus food.
  14. If you are counting the melee weapon perks as among the worst, then you are wrong about the "worst" abilities not getting better on lower difficulty. Lowering the difficulty increases the amount of damage you do per hit to the zombies and decreases the amount of damage they do to you. Say a zombie has 100 health. On highest difficulty one club hit may do 20 damage so 50% more would be 30. On the lowest difficulty, that same hit with that same club may do 70 damage, making the perk give you a one hit kill. Percent damage increases are much more impactful at lower difficulties. As for not upgrading abilities on easier difficulties, you are aware that people have different levels of proficiency at the game? Some people playing on the easiest difficulty do so because they are not particularly good at the game but still have fun playing it. They need the upgraded abilities to keep pace with the upgraded zombie types. Those players are just as valuable as you are. Playing in a group is not an extreme situation. There are many people who are likeable enough to have friends. The recommendation of watching the grand spartan multiplayer series was just so you could see what a struggle food can be in multiplayer, and is far from the only example of this. I never have food troubles in single player, but in a group it is a noticeable increase in difficulty. Hunger causes stamina issues, which decrease both the amount of stuff you can get done as well as how much fun you have doing it.
  15. Although I don't play on adventure difficulty level, stories from perks being useful on adventurer difficulty are 100% valid. Perk balance is not done based just on insane difficulty nightmare speed zombies. It is based on all settings. For example, you say iron gut is a useless perk. If you watch any larger multiplayer youtube series, you will find that it is a necessity. Food is much more difficult for larger groups, and iron gut helps them a lot. See Grand Spartan multiplayer series for example. You say no one fights with knives. Although I haven't watched him, apparently jonah birch uses knives due to the slow that you get from the perks in his insane difficulty, always run, nightmare speed, permadeath playthroughs. Maybe you can get some tips there on how it's done. Parkour is used by lots of people who do high level melee horde builds. I have seen people who fight the horde in the streets with melee, utilizing pillars to jump onto rather than an actual base. It looks both fun and useful to me, although as a disabled grandmother i don't have the twitch reflexes to make it work for me. For people who play on lower difficulties, who matter just as much as you, fully perking a melee weapon can make a difference in a one hit kill or not. For people who prefer the extra challenge of playing on an all snow or all desert map, well insulated is a very useful perk. Most of the perks you deem useless are quite likely high priority perks for some people, some situations, some difficulty level, etc.
  16. Settings above 100% do indeed work like that. I am not sure how settings below 100% work. There have been some threads reporting never finding workstation schematics in loot at 25% either here, on steam, or both. Perhaps the game rounds up if it rolls 50% or more? I personally have no clue. To test 200%, 300% etc on books would be simple though, if you are not sure that part is accurate. I can confirm in my experience 200% loot ALWAYS gives 2 copies of each book, schematic, and recipe.
  17. The pinned threads are at the top of this subforum. Also, since this is a problem with the darkness falls mod, you may get better help posting in the df thread in the modding subforum. This forum is for help with problems in vanilla. The overhaul mod authors all seem to be active and helpful with troubleshooting problems with their mod.
  18. I consider this game to be whatever I want to play at any given moment. Some days I log in and it is a building and decorating sim, interrupted by occasional screamer killing. Some days I log in and it is a looter shooter, spamming every poi up and down the street with reckless abandon and a bunch of chests in the middle of the street to dump crap in to be sorted/moved later. Some days I log in and it is a stealthy dungeon crawl, killing most things with one shot to the head with my compy xbow. Some days I log in and it's farmville, Carefully placing plots for maximum attractiveness and planting all the seeds I can finally craft. You say that early game is not about scavenging because you find nothing useful. I have found the book that gives you no movement penalties from armor on day 3. That is more useful than a q2 iron pick ax to me. Books, recipes, mods, seeds, crafting mats, ammo ... those are all very useful to me. I am not stupid enough to start a giant base build while i still have stone tools. The basic week 1 zombies die easily to a primitive bow stealth shot or a few bonks on the head with a wooden club. I manage just fine on what i can find or craft. And by the time I need more I have it. The game is what you make of it.
  19. Many features (vehicles, larger storage, etc) benefit the player, while you could say also is an excuse to be "lazy". I do like quality of life improvements, although personally i can enjoy the game without them. The lockable slots are a nice addition in the overhaul mods i play, but i don't use modlets to add them to my vanilla games, although i certainly could. From what i recall, they haven't been added to the vanilla game because they haven't been completely bug tested and such. I hope they are added into vanilla game play at some point, but i am quite content to wait for it.
  20. By not in vanilla, i meant not enabled in vanilla. I'm aware that they are in the code but not enabled, and that the mods that have lockable slots are using tfp code.
  21. Lockable slots are not in vanilla. All the sort buttons are, but not the lockable slots.
  22. I think the recipe was removed with the last update when they made most storage able to be picked up and brought home. rather than destroying the cardboard boxes to get cardboard to make cardboard boxes, you now just pick up the cardboard boxes ( and many other world storage containers) and take them home.
  23. If i remember right, there is a known vanilla bug where any land claim blocks after the first one do not prevent respawns. They just allow workstation pick up. You could go back to your other land claim blocks and destroy them, so your only land claim block is in your new base. Then just to be safe, destroy and replace that one. If i am correct, you will no linger get respawns.
  24. What you are mining with the auger makes a big difference in how likely screamers are to spawn. Mining metal is the culprit. You will get a lot of screamers if you are doing a big iron mining session. If you are just mining stone you won't see nearly as many screamers.
  25. Try putting in a seed name. I personally have generated a lot of worlds over the years, but have never tried to do it without putting in a seed name.
