  1. I like to think we strive for "Believability" rather than "Realism" as long as it doesn't get in the way of good gameplay.
  2. Great point, looting POIs in other survival games is so bland and gets repetitive way to fast imo. Alot of the time, it's way to easy to cheese the AI in a non destructible POI.

  4. Let's see tips....🤔 Don't take for granted the early game foods / items? In a recent playthrough (default settings), I was pleasantly surprised how I ended up "needing" to use more items early game (e.g. aloe cream, cooked corn, potatoe, vending machines, etc.) I completely forgot how having hunger/thrust below 50% makes stamina management even more important. I recall using bullets more frequently because of said hunger / thirst issues. (A good thing imo) Took me a bit to find a cooking pot this time through (although I did loot 2 grills lol) and also had a 1km hike to the trader. Because I could only cook crappy foods, I tried to focus looting kitchens for cooking magazines so I could make the grilled meats. I consider myself a casual player so your mileage will vary. Edit: ended up buying a water filter from the trader so I could build a dew collector asap.

  6. Many of the older POIs received the "shrink" treatment which I believe the bungalows were included in that as well. There might be a few we might need to circle back on as I don't think we had the time to do all of them. All of them received the art update with the new art assets though, so there should be a big difference overall.
  7. Time trial quest within a POI would be good imo. Do X by Y. All of the existing quests could apply. Timed Clear / Fetch / Infestation.
  8. Great point. Some people may not notice it, but in level design we intentionally control the pace at which how many zombies the player is engaged with at the same time. A normal T1 POI with 9 zombies now with 18 sounds trivial at first but when you consider how many you need to deal with at a time, it suddenly is alot more challenging. I am sure there will be alot of fun to be had.
  9. Many systems get iterated on over several Alphas, the quest system is not excluded. For example, restore power quests are still evolving. Infestation quests will most likely see improvements after the first iteration gets played by the general public as well. Some may question why release A21 without bandits? Because the team still needs feedback on all of the other additions/changes sooner than later. Edit: Also, infestation sounds like a trivial change but there is actually alot of new coding changes under the hood that allows level design to really make new experiences we were not able to in A20. Can't wait for you guys to try it out...😁
  10. Hopefully more quest types in A22. The infestation type was the only one ready for A21.
  11. I would need to double check but I think the player gets better rewards.for an infestation quest.
  12. Do you remember which POI it was? You should be able to progress through a POI even if not on a restore power quest. Old one is gone. It was way too small to represent an actual prison. Prison 01 has the iconic perimeter guard towers so hopefully will give a similar vibe as the old one. Many of the new decorations have side centered or corner variants so they can sit against a wall.

  14. Thanks, the art team will most likely update many of the old paint textures before gold. The paintable "mirror" and OSB textures are a couple that come to mind as being updated for this Alpha. The 5 new T5s: House_modern_24 Apartments_02 Nursing_home_01 Prison_01 Prison_02 All of which are also configured to infestation quests as well (T6)
  15. Yeah, many on the team would of liked bandits and the new player character models to be in A21, but they are just not ready yet. At least the character team showed their progress though so people know significant progress is being made. Better then complete radio silence imo. In other news, if you missed the announcement. The level design dev stream is tomorrow. Tune in for some POI reveals and other level design tidbits. Maybe even some updates on what is going on with RWG and tiles....😎
  16. Think of A20's version the foundation for the new Rekt and the A21 version closer to the final design for him. Not wasted effort as many designs, including POIs have an iterative process based on what assets / features are available at the time.
  17. I will see what I can do...😅 If it's any consolation, there is also a female version of the hoarder with all of the cool Easter eggs they talked about. I think most of the male / female outfits are the same.
  18. Fully understand 👍. Hope you decide and check things out again once the game is finished. At least then, there should not be anymore save breaking.
  19. The beauty of survival games like 7 days to die is you can replay them several times many different ways. (E.g. different perk builds, longer days, bloodmoon, no bloodmoon, etc.) Many fans of the game will come back after every major Alpha update and start a new game to check out all of the changes. Personally, I like the INT tree and like building my own horde base to see how long I can survive the 7 day blood moon. I typically will play permadeath style where if I die I stop playing that save which makes every action (or inaction) I make even more meaning. In my latest playthrough I decided to take over an existing POI as my base instead of building from scratch. I'm a builder at heart so, I use to export my builds to file so I can import them into a new game if I ever wanted to for nostalgia. Hopefully, you can find similar new goals to help the game stay enjoyable to you. There are also a ton of mods / overhauls out there as well. Edit: you can also back up your A20 save and revert back to A20 if you want to continue your adventure there if you are not ready to start over.
  20. Everyone has their level of immersion / standards. For me, If I saw 5 boe's with different clothing on running at me, at first it would feel like different zombies until you eventually realize its the same zombie and makes you wish for different faces.....then different body sizes......then.....different zombies all together. 😅 So instead of wasting time with half measures, go all in with 100% unique zombies with awesome characteristics. 😎
  21. Something also to consider. Some folks might be fine with different color clothes and such, but others may not. Personally I love how each character is 100% different from each other. Changing a shirt or color here and there may help "blur" the lines alittle bit but is a lower quality standard imo. Clone variants works in other games because you either can't seem them up close or the combat is so fast the player is never standing around long enough to care / notice. If it was up to me, I would prefer the artists take the time to just make more unique zombies using the same approach as how the current HD set was made.
  22. No performance loss? How did you arrive at that conclusion? For example, how much memory does that overhaul use in comparison to Vanilla? Mods / Overhauls are definitely a great addition, but they don't have to hold themselves to the same standards as the base game. It's not an apples to apples comparison.
  23. Just in case it hadn't been stated yet, it is only primitive crafts (e.g. stone axe, club, primitive bow, etc.) where the quantity of materials needed doesn't change with the different quality. All other crafts such as pipe pistols, do have scaling material costs with their quality levels.
  24. The team fully understands. Character artist are busy with bandits and new player character models. Character artists are also different from Environment Artists who specialize on environment art. Hopefully once you play A21, you will change your mind regarding the updated decors.
  25. My guess is the comment was because of the new desert female player character outfit shown in tonight's dev stream.
