  1. Have you looked into this? https://www.didimo.co/ Says it's compatible with unity and you can upload your style so the randomization is appropriate for your game. Might help with different looking zombies?
  2. That's why I said the fastest way! If it doesn't make a difference, simply quitting the game reverts the setting. I'm going off a friend that has a laptop with an AMD CPU that made a difference in his eyes during horde night, when he gave this a try. (Disabling 0 for the game and using 4 of the real cores) Launching without EAC isn't permanent either it's only to be able to change the task manager affinity. It's not for playing but checking if this helps. If he's alone on his own world, eac isn't needed either way but I haven't recommended playing without it
  3. I hosted with an i7 10700(65w) and played off the same computer just fine. Try limiting the game to use the real cores. Fastest way to check this is to launch the game without EAC and open task manager. Right click on 7days and change affinity. Uncheck 1,3,5 all the odd numbers. I did read a few times some people have better performance with AMD CPUs with that trick on this game. You can also try unchecking 0 so the main thread isn't the one that windows also uses.
  4. I agree with this, don't run anything in the background if you're doing multiplayer.
  5. This sounds like black smearing. Check this video to see if that's what you're talking about. https://youtu.be/7SxJerJQdGg I found out with 7 days to die, black smearing ended up being the game that brings the issue out the most for me on my current monitor. It's a slow transition of black. Best to look it up yourself. I switched to an old monitor before I got my ultra wide to check and black smearing was definitely present but at such a small amount I never noticed it so I never knew what it was. Some monitors have it worse than others. Regret grabbing this Samsung ultra wide after finding this issue because it can't be unseen lol
  6. I bet an i5 12400 would perform better than that 10 year old CPU. If you don't want to upgrade. You only have a few options, wait until the game goes full release for the best optimizations and see if it helps your troubles. Install the mod that replaces glass windows that are being fixed in A21. That made a difference questing in tier 5 pois Limit the AMD CPUs to 4 real cores excluding the very first one in affinity/task manager and see if that helps. Limit the power profile of the mobile ryzen to reduce heat, thermal throttling during horde night was contributing to a friend's Ryzen 4800H laptop If shadows and/or reflections are turned on, turn them off exclusively for horde night If you have gens, battery banks, solar panels try turning them off. I looked at half of our base with 2 generators going and found it reduced the fps by almost 20 for me and our 2nd PC and went up as soon as it was turned off tested this 3 times across both PCs because I was in disbelief. We now use candles and torches. Hello screamers Keep dynamic mesh to disabled or landclaim only. Disabled during horde night. The rtx 2080ti PC can use Nvidia's control panel nis image scaling to render the image at 85% with almost no difference in image quality unlike the in game built in image scaling option. If you have a tree farm around your base chop it all down and replant after horde night, same for any farm. I chop all trees up to 100 away Ina full circle around the base the morning of horde night. Replant everything after base repairs Mod the zombie bodies to disappear after 5 to 7 seconds. You can even swap it in and out for horde night only. It's a server side mod so nobody needs it except the server. This all helped the worst of the group, the Ryzen 4800H rtx 2060 laptop. His experience improved significantly though not awesome, he dies way less during horde night.
  7. E5 2680 V2 may serve it's purpose for server things and some other games but for this game it's from 2013. Nearly 10 years old! It's adding to the lag everyone gets during horde night, it simply cannot keep up. Amount of cores doesn't matter either.
  8. Here's my experience since starting my own server on Alpha 15, I run windows exclusively since Linux is a headache for me. I would suggest a CPU upgrade. E5 2440 v2 is from 2014 with a max turbo of just 2.4ghz and ddr3 ram. it may do fine for other things but obviously is not enough for 7dtd DS based on your own words. The server minimum recommended is 2.4ghz, 3ghz is the recommended. So you're at the minimum there. I run a DS on a nvme 1tb 970 evo plus, i7 10700 65w with 64gb ddr4(3000mhz) ram and with 8/8 we were doing fine while 3 were looting a tier 5. Horde night with 12 zombies per player, 3 grouped and the other 2 grouped 4km away (5 total)was not a slide show. Currently waiting on a 13700k to arrive to see how that changes things. 8/8 did drop the server fps from 70s to mid 40s sometimes dropping into the 30s but didn't affect anyone not questing the tier 5 but there was hiccups when they'd wake the whole floor. My experience was coming from a i5 8400 24gb ddr4(2400mhz) 250gb 960 evo nvme we had delays opening anything, lag and stutters with more than 5, all in different areas. The CPU upgrade made a difference going from 8th to 10th gen, i5 to i7. Now waiting to see if 3 more generations will make a similar difference as well as 65w to 125w I also limit the ping! anyone spending a considerable amount of time above 150 ping is booted. Had a few connected with over 270 ping that would jump to 400 and as soon as they were gone everyone recovered from what felt like lag when more than 6 were connected not including myself. This was in a18 haven't since allowed anyone connecting from across the oceans. I also play from the same computer. When over 4 are connected, I usually stay home and build. I limit myself to 40fps when doing both, as well as give the server high priority and remove myself from 2 of the 8 real cores and 2 of the hyper threaded cores I temporarily let the server (a19.1) run alone on a Xeon x5660 with 20gb ddr3 and a cheap 240gb sata SSD, while I built a newer PC over several weeks. Horde night was awful with 6 people separated and I was playing from a separate PC this time. It could have been 1 or all 3 of the old hardware causing trouble. This setup did fine for Minecraft, left 4 dead 2 and killing floor 2 dedicated servers (not at once) this is just fyi on how I got to where I was over several alphas The CPU upgrades felt smoother but I did keep myself on an NVMe when possible. Hope this helps!
  9. I wouldn't donate 100 but agree 100% with this guy. If TFP would accept donations to help port from unity to unreal I'd donate asap!
  10. I'm not going to call out names of those who messaged me in a rant about dislikes and taking it very personal but it's simply not personal and it wasn't needed to be brought into this diary about a20 when the rant was ignored. I'm not going through someone's profile and hitting dislike across the board. I'm opening a browser that opens to this forum discussion where I left off and start going down and to the next page. I disagree and instead of disagreeing in a comment and joining an argument or creating one I use the dislike system. It wasn't to mess with someone's reputation and as Roland stated it's neutral but I'm not anyone else but myself. I've been disliking AND liking through plenty of posts because the system was easier to use than sparking an argument and I believed that was it's intention..
  11. I have a Samsung 960 evo nvme(256gb) and sabrent rocket nvme(1tb). There was no difference between either when running the dedicated server off each even though the sabrent had better read and write speeds
  12. Wishful thinking here, After watching the stream. I couldn't help but wonder if the top secret project is related to an UnrealEngine port since the game is coming to epicgames and Rick said a secret unreal project | doing some really cool stuff in unreal Wishful but hopeful!
  13. i don't have a high end and it doesn't turn into a slide show on horde night I dip to 40 from 60 but still not a slideshow
  14. Not being able to place forest ground around my desert base. Maybe I want a sandy pathway instead of gravel. Hate that it's not possible anymore.
  15. All 4 of us on our server are also having the same problem with looting. Opening a chest will freeze for a second and prevent using anything until the container is destroyed which remains in a state of "item in use" but also says it's empty. We are going to try update to the new stable (previously using the old) to see if it makes any difference. It's only happened with the dark brown chest in the loot rooms so far! now we have avoided those chests after day 1 and 2 seeing the issue replicated in other Pois among all 4. Yes - copied all the files correctly only 1 person is trying to loot the chest at the time no red/yellow text in console for client or server
  16. does this need to be installed on clients if i put it on dedicated server? Does it do anything on the dedicated server? Just curious thanks either way
