Hence, not natural in a post-apocalyptic game set in the slight future. Without some unnatural influence they wouldn't just suddenly spring back into existence.

Actually, there are a number of groups out there trying to clone or recreate a number of extinct creatures. Just think of them as some groups project that they let loose once they realized that they were going to turn and didn't want them to starve.

Huh I haven't had any issues like that, did you put water within 4 blocks of the crops blocks? gotta put a puddle in a hole in the middle of a farm like minecraft, or I have at least and I have seen all the seeds I have tried planting swap to growing, haven't grown the modded plants yet tbf.

That's the problem, I didn't know about the water. I'll need to rework the farm then. Thanks for the info.

  3. Is there a bug with plants growing? I have the non experimental version and the game runs fine but plants I have planted don't seem to be growing. Only a few moved from seed to growing plants and some of them have been planted for 12 in game days at 60 minutes a day. The funny thing is, the two corn that moved to growing weren't the two oldest corn plants that I planted. There were two corn plants that I planted a day before these. I did hoe the ground with a scrap iron hoe if that makes any difference.

  4. It is a pre-built machine that had 8GB of RAM that I got 16GB of RAM for and put into it. Both sets of RAM were 3000 MHz so not too bad.

Plus I think I got it fixed. I just played the game for four hours with no problems. It seems there were some corrupted windows files that I eventually got fixed and my system seems to be stable now. I was following the advice on the following webpage and when I finally got the scanning of the windows files done was informed that there were corrupted files and they were fixed.

Thanks for all of the help and advice. If I have any more problems I'll be sure to say.

EDIT: Forgot to post the webpage link.

  5. I have been playing but three times the game has crashed on me with a unity error.

I did find a thread that reccomended using

on the launch options but further in the thread it said that it wasn't working. Is there some command or setting I can use to keep the game from crashing to the desktop every 5 or 10 minutes?

  6. My system died and I am looking at a new system with an AMD R5 3600 and the RX 580 video card with 8GB of RAM and 8GB of system RAM. I will likely purchase some extra RAM to bump system RAM to 16GB.

I was wondering what kind of performance people were seeing with similar systems?

Thanks for your answers and if you could include what kind of settings you were running to get that performance it would be great.

  7. The boar seems a bit overpowering.

I thought I was shooting at a deer but was a boar. I hit it with my rifle twice but it kept coming.

The next time I found one, I wanted to see what it took to kill it. I hit it with the rifle again and then switched to my double barrel shotgun.

I ended up dropping it after four more shots. Meanwhile I felt like that thing was hitting me like a machine gun.

You might want to work on your aim, I one shot them on Nomad if I crouch and hit the head with a crappy rifle.

I have a hunting rifle and can one shot them if I shoot them in the head while crouching.

EDIT - I don't have any of the stealth kill perks so all I get is the normal 2x damage.

  8. Ah, let me clarify. Say you do an Int build and have no points in either heavy armor or light armor. Wearing either will be a drag. Sure you could wear light armor and just accept the new normal stamina drain. If you want to put the pocket mods you find on armor slot items you're stuck wearing the armor. If you eschew the armor and thus its pocket mods all you get are the 3 +1 mods for clothing items. A pure build wouldn't have pack mule, either, so no inv slots from that.

That said, my current build is Int, Str and Fort decreasing in that order and I'm thinking that as much as I'm enjoying stunning everything all the time I shouldn't have put the points in Int. At least not for another 20+ levels.

Actually, padded armor doesn't have any drain. I use that and the pockets I have found and really help as they have quality so can handle more mods.

Did a little further testing in the snow biom. After doing a bunch of combinations of graphic settings, and eventually ending up in turning almost everything off, shadows, reflection, ssao, shadow reflection etc. Regardless of the graphic settings, the drop in frames always happened. The only thing I cannot seem to turn off is whatever the heck governs this effect (sorta looks like lighting and reflections should govern this)see pics. Whatever that specific effect is called, i lack the terminology, might have something to do with the drop in fps. Further testing needed...

Observation note: Did not see any noticeable drop in frames from fog and snow weather effects in my game.

I am having a FPS drop in the desert when I have textures up to full. In the forest biome I have around 35 to 65 usually 45 to 50 FPS but I drop to around 15 FPS in the desert. I haven't been around the snow biomes yet with full textures so I have no ides if I suffer FPS drops there as well. I only get those drops when I have full textures set, on half I don't have any FPS drops at all but the game looks bad.

  10. Turn on god mode and clip through walls to find it.

Regarding missing backpacks, I died in a game of A18 b139 (I think, the previous one anyway) and went to the backpack marker. There was nothing there, it was in the desert outdoors so no roofs or anything. I used god mode to clip downwards to look below to see if it sunk somewhere or something but even though I could always see the marker the backpack was never to be found. I lost all of my best items and just deleted that game and have since been playing no drops.

  11. Except I don't need to play it to know that, MadMole addressed me directly and stated that a full intelligence build allows player made items of middle of the road quality.

If I want better weapons that means I cannot play as I wish, which is basic looting, mining, and taking on zombies at my leisure with a heavy focus on crafting and farming, because I am going to need a decent enough str/def build even with basic melee weapons just to get the better defense loot.

From what I read and believe, When you craft an item it's quality is determined by the items main point. Each weapon item type is governed by some perk in the strength, intelligence, fortitude, agility or perception tree. For instance, the shock sticks are controlled by a perk in the intelligence tree and Bows are governed by a perk in the perception tree. Now, when you craft an item, it can only have a max quality of 5, to get a quality 6 item, you must find them. Also, items that are found have random stats like say 10 to 20 damage on them, while the crafted item of the same quality level will only have static stats like a damage of 15. If you want the best items, you must find them but you can still craft decent items that may be better than anything you have thus far found.

  12. Start over with a new character in the same world.

That way if you know the map by heart you could find your old base break in to it and "steal" your stuff back.

Even better would be if your old character roams the land as a Zombie. If you kill it you will get your bag back.

How do you start over in the same world with a new character? How do you reset your level and skills and make it day one again but keep everything you have changed in the world but basically be like starting a totally new game with the starter quests and such?

  13. I used the HD nailgun and it worked for me, I had portland mix and upgraded a rebar block

    - - - Updated - - -

Anyone else having a tough time to completing the electricians quest line 4, craft a battery bank? I used admin to get the schematic, read it and it still says I don't know the required recipe. Am i missing the skill because I couldnt find anything but ECO/HD battery bank

Thanks, just tried the regular nailgun.

To make the battery bank, you need to have level 10 in intelligence and level 5 in one of the skills under that which says it will allow you to craft the battery bank.

  14. is it just me or why can't i upgrade the rebar frames to concrete? i have the Portland concrete but when i try to upgrade it says that i don't have any.... tried whith all types of tools but nothing works.... ? are i doing something wrong or is there a bug in the mod?

If you look 8 messages up, you will see that I am asking what tool upgrades them as well. Haven't found it yet.

EDIT: I went into creative and tried all four wrenches, all four hammers and even the nailgun and none worked.

  15. I have a question, I have tried searching but cannot find the answer.

What tool do I use to upgrade the bar block into the steal reinforced concrete block with the portland cement? I can't seem to find it through search or experimentation so far.

  16. I always start with flagstone. If you spawn near a city/town, there are sooo many houses & buildings with cobblestone and cement that by day 3 I can make a base where the first 3 block layers are reinforced concrete while the rest is upgraded flagstone. To save on concrete, I break each upgraded flagstone and put in rebar before concreting as I get more rebar frames made. Usually by day 7 my entire base is reinforced concrete (20x20 blocks). Coat the outside blocks with barbed wire, surrounded by 5 rows of wood spikes and more barbed wire then I have a ‘nearly inpenetrable’ base. The only thing wood is the roof since I rarely get zombies up there. Skip the wood base now that cement & cobble is everywhere.

This is what I do, find a town and use a shovel (even stone) to get cobblestone and cement and build a good base when I find a good spot.

  17. Lastly i'd like a "drop nothing on death" setting added to what you drop on death, I feel the debuff is enough of a penalty atm, and body runs suck no one likes them.

    this is already an option.

It is only an option if you have a mod that makes it an option. Unless it is an option for multiplayer as I only play single player. The drop on death options are everything, backpack, or tool belt.

    EDIT - Is bolded.

  18. Auto placing a block where you have just removed a block as far as I know is not possible (plants and trees are blocks in the game and so are the seeds).

I may be wrong some and some of the more experienced modders in the community may be able to confirm this if you post in the discussion section or if they see this they may be able to answer here ?

I think there is or was an on destruct property that allowed you to replace it with the seed or you can have it downgrade into the seed block. I'm not sure of what was exactly done but some of the 16.4 mods did do this and you might want to look at them to see how they did it exactly and see if it is still possible.

  19. Question: I was experimenting with Vending Machine. There are Trader's Rental base vending machine. Which I saw in Streamer video works. So, instead I buy a Player Vending Machine in Single Player Game, and put it outside my base in open. I put some stuff in there, now it is 3 game days and nothing is sold. I believe they are not for 30 days rental as I own it. But do they sell in single player? Rental one sell product in single player, I know if I am on multi player other player can potentially buy, But in single player are there ghost buyers? even it is 1 in 100 chance?

I think those are for multiplayer only. At least at this point, no idea if there are plans to change that in the future.

  20. Right, and currently, runtime swapping out prefabs (i.e. POIs) is not even in the game. And it's not trivial to handle, either - how would you make it moddable? How would you deal with RWG pre-generating everything now? How could you effectively hide the swapping from the player? Etc.

It's a lot more complicated than just resetting the containers in a prefab/POI when you start a quest, since that already happened (more or less) whenever loot respawned; the functionality was already in the game.

TFP would have to program in (and balance, and support...) entirely new functionality - and they have shown no indication that it's even something they're interested in doing.

I supposes a modder with a lot of SDX experience could give it a go, but I really doubt they would be able to do it in any reasonable time frame, since they'd essentially have to gut and re-program vast swaths of the vanilla game code.

I'm certainly not saying it shouldn't be done, I think it would be really cool, I'm just not expecting it to ever be possible in this game.

(Also - haven't played with the wandering traders yet, the only A16 mod that had them was one I didn't care for, but they do sound pretty neat.)

I don't think it would be as hard as you say. The POI reset will bring cars, work stations and anything else back that you had already destroyed. It is essentially creating a new POI every time it is done. I don't think it would take long to be able to make it turn into a different POI. As for signalling when it is done, it could be done when you come back to the POI and the game goes to load it in. There would be something set that would tell it it is time to upgrade to the next POI and it would upgrade at that time.

EDIT: I read some of the further posts below yours and see that some others have made the same points I have and more.
