  1. I've got almost 12,000 hours in this game. I love it. I'm writing this because sometimes people make mistakes.....and when they do, they should man-up and just admit it. For the purposes of this posting, the Mistake Made was the new (A20) server browser. The people that made the mistake were the people that designed it. And I want to be the first to say "It's OK. We forgive you. We still love you. You're still a valid person(s)." BUT. (And I'm sorry....) BUT.....your new server browsing software/format sucks. Let me rephrase that: It's terrible and sucks the fun out of trying to find a game. I am asking, on behalf of everybody, PLEASE, just admit it's garbage and revert to the A19 server browser format. Please? Things that are Bad with it: -No more ability to filter by server ping -Server Ping shows as "N/a" most of the time, except when you select it and then (sometimes) it shows -The part where you force us (and yes I said FORCE) to choose a Region for servers.... 1) Doesn't work 2) See #1 -Let me ask you this.....a 10 second Google search shows that IP addresses have specific ranges for countries/global regions. So why didn't you make your server browser smart enough to detect where a server IP is from, and automatically sort the server to the correct region? Why, you ask, does that matter? Because (as I currently understand it), you leave it up to the server owners to declare (in the server settings) what region they are in. That is BAD. First, because many users have no clue they need to (or how to) do that. So, if your default server location is East-US, anybody on the PLANET that runs a server and doesn't know to change that designation, ends up in EAST-US. Which explains why, when I go to East-US, half the servers I see, their descriptions are written completely in Chinese Pictograms, or Russian Text, with server pings above 400. Why? You force us to select a region, then allow anybody to accidentally (through just not knowing any better) end up in the wrong one. OR.....you get people that want to "troll"....to intentionally place their server in a region that is not accurate. (Again....100% Chinese servers in Eastern-US section.) Either you need to modify your server browsing software to look at the server IPs and designate them by region,...or remove the part where you group things by region entirely and then force us to select an (inaccurate) region. Honestly? I loved having a 14 page list of servers that I could filter down to a 4 or 5 page list of servers I might actually want to join. It gave me choices. Now, not only do I look at a list with over 50% of the servers listed NOT in the region I'm searching....but you cap the number of servers that can be listed. The result? The same servers listed, over and over. Let's break that down with an example: Let's say there are 200 servers in Western-US, and you allow/cap the list at 50. The first/fastest 50 servers to respond to a new SEARCH are going to get listed. The next time you search....the odds are those same 50 servers (give or take a couple) will STILL be the fastest...and you'll end up seeing the SAME servers again. That leaves 150 servers that are in that region that we'll never see, never know are available....because you capped how many could BE in the region (again...WHY???). Bottom line, it used to be great to see all the options for servers to play on....to be able to find one that you wanted to play on. Now? Like I said....(and again, I love this game)....this browser format SUCKS. Please. We'll all still love you TFP. Just say "Our bad. Sorry about that" or "OK, we admit it, we were drunk that day-Ooops!" and revert to the previous A19 browser format. This new one adds nothing. It's worse. It makes us sad. And all you need to do to make soooooo many people happy, is to just go back to what worked in the past. We know you keep backups of every version of your code....any professional game developer does.....just find it, and revert. Be The Man. Thank you.
  2. I'll give the simple answer first, then expand on it: Wooden doors and blocked chokepoints. If you're working your way up a tall building from the bottom there are three kinds of zombies you need to worry about -The initial/sleeper zombies -Zombies walking in off the street -Zombies that respawn in the building because you're in there so long (tall skyscrapers) Obviously, you start by clearly the ground floor and killing the sleepers. Next step is to secure the first floor from zombies wandering in off the street. This can be as simple as placing a wooden door in the entrance, or using Cobbleblocks or woodblocks or frameblocks to fill in any holes in the first floor walls. The goal is not to 100% prevent zombies from entering....it's to give you some sort of warning when they do (the sound of something being broken). If you're nearby, you can go to the source of the sound and deal with the zombie. If you're higher up in the building, you have some time, and at least know there's something in there with you. For both those zombies that break in after you, and any zombies that respawn below you (if you're in there a couple of game days), the simple solution is to break the access from the lower level (burn your bridges behind you). This can be breaking a ladder, or busting out several steps in a fire stairway (they may be concrete and take a little time to break, but once you do, nothing will be following you up). That leaves the part where you finish and want to exit the building. On a really tall building, where you're pretty much guaranteed to have things waiting for you on the lower levels, you can take the easy way out and jump (there's a candy in the vending machines that gives you 100% immunity to fall damage for three minutes). If you don't have a candy, your next option would be to use ladders or blocks to climb down the building exterior,...away from any spots where the zombies can get to you (don't climb down in front of, or under windows or cracks in the wall, or under direct drop offs from the roof whenever possible). If you keep some sort of block stack in your belt, or have enough wood to make ladders, it just takes a bit of care, so that you get things in place before you take a step. Lastly, the Level 10 Answer....can you make a gyrocopter? Keep it in your belt and just take off from the roof when you're ready to go.
  3. OMFG----That worked!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Quick, somebody fire the clown at TFP that designed things this way and hire WYR3D to replace them! Much appreciated wyr3d. Was up to about 40 servers, half of them locked/passworded. Was driving me NUTS. And in all seriousness....why the heck did they DO things that way??? I mean, a Registry file? That's like asking the checker at the supermarket to slice a hole in your side and just slip the change in. I don't want anybody messing with my registry any more than they need to. This just seems like a really lazy way to do things. And yes, there used to be the easier way of doing it through the Steam Servers list....but I'm still asking, in the grand scheme of things, why they can't spend an hour adding a DELETE SERVER button to the 7 Days Server History page? If they can add servers, one by one, to a Registry file, seems logical that they can also delete them.....or am I just more insane than normal today? But, again, your solution worked. Easily! Thumbs up, pat on the back, Golden Zombie, take your pick. (Not sure how to close an open thread, but this one has been answered and can be closed---but leave it for all others to see!)
  4. Please. For the love of God and all that's holy. SOMEBODY PLEASE tell me how to make the old servers go away in my 7 Days Browser. No, going to Steam Servers doesn't work: Steam shows ZERO SERVERS. No, uninstalling and then reinstalling the game does not work. No, running the cache clearing junk in the launcher does not work. NOTHING WORKS. And the list of servers I've tried, or played on, and no longer go to, keeps expanding in my 7 Days Browser History tab. Please. Please please please. SOMEBODY tell me how to make them go away. I've looked in Roaming. And Local. And Steamapps. And MyGames. I've looked in EVERY POSSIBLE FOLDER on my C; Drive, it ain't there. I've looked EVERYWHERE on my computer and I do not see a file that contains the list of servers that I've played on. All I want is a SIMPLY way to make them go away. To be able to select the ones I don't want to show up, and delete them, remove them, nuke them from orbit. Somebody, please message me. Just give me a file path (C:Files/files/filename.name) so I can manually go in and remove the ones I no longer care about. Just tell me how to clear the server browser history (preferrably one server at a time). My 7 Days Browser History should have three or four servers. Not twenty two. Wait, now it's twenty three. This is like the movie The Blob. But slimy-er. The 7 Days Server Browser History tab should have servers I play on, or recently tried. Not servers from February that I cannot delete. Servers that have since activated passwords, or installed mods I don't play, or are a different version that I don't play. The simple answer is there should be a select/delete option within the History tab of the Server Browser. There is not. Why? Could you add one. Soon? Pretty please? The NEXT simple answer would be for somebody to care enough to FIX the server pass-through to Steam, so we can delete them like previously. (Steam/View Servers/Right Click/Remove) I've been nice here, and not commented on how such a basic, recently self-induced issue is being ignored, when it should be one of the first things fixed, BEFORE NEW MATERIAL IS CREATED. Please. FIX THIS. HELP ME. MAKE IT GO AWAY. Thank you.
  5. 1) There are servers in History that I cannot get rid of. No delete in 7D Server Browser and they DO. NOT. SHOW. UP. in the Steam View Servers list. 2) Why did you remove PING as a search criteria option? Would prefer not to waste time on 200+ ping servers. 3) Why do you force us to choose a Region without giving us an "ALL" option? Or a way to combine several regions in one search? 4) Why are we seeing server descriptions written 100% in Chinese in the US West and US East? Are the Chinese hackers BACK? 5) Why do you force the filter panel on us when we hit JOIN A GAME? Was much better to show us all servers, then let us CHOOSE to filter. 6) That "available slots" thing? Lose it. Or, at the very least, do NOT default the filter to "1". Just leave it blank. *Prior to your changes, there are about 6000 servers showing in the unfiltered list. Now, even selecting no filters options, I'm seeing 10. Sorry guys, you get a grade of D- for the "new" server browser. Clunky, awkward, inaccurate. Fun killing. Very tempted to simply switch back to previous version, it's so bad. Please, please give some consideration to reverting all your server browser changes. They are TERRIBLE. (This is coming from somebody with over 11,000 hours in game.) Thank you.
