  1. The room for improvement could also fill libraries, and since this is a popular way people use the game I think it's worthwhile to improve. The game code itself doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be good enough to allow admins to do their job moderating their servers. The efficient way to get there is to to leverage the experience and suggestions from admins like giKoN and others. Start a dialog, respond to their feedback in detail, prioritize action items & bug reports.
  2. He didn't say they would look into anything specific. "optimizations" could mean anything. In the next sentence he's talking about FPS drops.
  3. You can set max players >8 without mods. It's just that you need to use mods typically if you want to see that last at all... I would much rather be discussing Howlune and giKoN's feedback than my own snark, but at least my snark revived this thread.

  5. What is the roadmap for addressing the myriad issues plaguing 8+ player multiplayer? Which issues are being prioritized? Who is being consulted? When can we expect any changes (it takes many months to ramp up a new developer on an existing project)? Is any of this happening at all, or will the official line be "this is unsupported" forever (there is no explicit promise that 8+ player multiplayer will be the focus for the new developer)?

Listen, I know they just want to make the best game possible, I just want to see recognition that the record breaking player count they’re so proud of includes a lot of players doing something “unsupported” and in need of attention. Lots of experienced admins here in this thread offering to help, and i just see them keep getting stonewalled
  8. So are these customers getting any attention for the next build? Maybe you should disable max players above 8 to make it clear. Or perhaps offer a refund to everyone in this list.

  10. I know some third party server managers let you inspect player’s inventory and even warn you or ban them if they have something restricted, like Dev Only armor. This is useful sometimes when cheaters exploit the bugs with multiplayer and give themselves admin privileges. Or, if the admin accidentally puts that item in their base, next to a bedroll whose location was broadcasted to everyone due to the bug referenced earlier, and a regular player raids the base and puts it on. Of course, you’d have to have deep knowledge of running servers and research all the third party mod options, validate they are OK from a security standpoint, and whatnot. I don’t know of any server managers that help with finding the second set of dev armor that I hid somewhere on the map, though. Would be great if that existed and had official support.
  11. There are 7 days specific issues here, such as cleaning up spawned vehicles and restarts during horde night. I hesitated to even provide a specific example because I knew the focus would be on proving that specific example unnecessary somehow, rather than addressing the overall theme of lack of attention.
  12. I’m at a loss here because I don’t admin a large dedicated server. Still, I know that there are many many things those admins must do to keep things running smoothly. I could talk about them at length but I prefer the experts to do so instead. I will provide an example though. Almost every large server needs to run an auto reboot script, due to memory leaks I suppose. Why is this a third party mod? This is really the point. It seems that nobody at TFP has gone to ask one of these experts what should be included by default for large servers, because even the most basic and requisite mods must be figured out by themselves
  13. The PvP experience could be vastly improved with relatively minor effort. Even just rubber-stamping solutions the community has already independently come up with, and including them as part of the official vanilla experience would help. The complete lack of attention, combined with the sales blurb, is just insulting. All of these apologists in this thread making excuses for lack of effort is embarrassing. This portion of the player base deserves attention.
