  3. We have a consultant graphics programmer who is doing benchmarks and has a second PC with low specs. I dug up my 4th old dev PC (i7 860) and have it running now, but it only has 4 GB RAM and an AMD 1 GB VRAM GPU. It will run the game on lower settings, but is very slow for testing as it hits the hard drive a lot (paging) during loading and shutdown and I could not run Unity at the same time. My wife's old PC has 8 GB RAM, which should work in that motherboard, so planning on trying that RAM. The problem with benchmarks is they tell you where you are at and maybe what is slow, but not how to fix it. Fixing is the hard part.

  4. Yes, but you can add as many new stamps as you want. It will also blend them together, so you might see some things that look kind of familiar but when you're on the ground it doesn't look at all the same and I've ran many many many seeds. Also, modders can add to the terrain stamps using png files, there is a base height level (r:32 g:32 b:32) and anything darker will dig down, anything higher will build up. Once I go over how to use our r16 format you'll even be able to define lakes at certain heights IN a stamp. It's really nifty. a20 (gold) RWG has a LOT more content driven design than any iteration before it. I'm very confident people will be happy with how it generates and modders will be thrilled at having a fairly easy way to build customized random maps. (looking at you, total conversion modders ;)) Anyway, I'm trying to avoid talking about the details too much on here. I'm super excited to show off / talk about everything and have a whole list of stuff that I'll be going over on the dev stream on October 13th (this week is the other programmers).

  5. So... quick question; has there been mention of an update to the in-game paint textures for A20? My wife would be a more hyped if there has been a lot more texture options added, she's always complaining about them and I only have so many non-white hairs left to hear about it.

  6. My son and I just upgraded to Manjaro (from Ubuntu) this summer. I, for sure, experienced a performance boost in the game when I did it (laugh away, I was getting 20-40 fps on Ubuntu with this rig and now I bottom out in the 30's on 64 zombie horde nights but generally stay around 50-60 except near large POI's). Game is vanilla (although I do run my LAN server on a zobees-7daystodie container which means Docker's running, too) and everything else about my OS is vanilla (out-of-the-box install of Manjaro).   10. Here's a better idea. Stop being offended on the behalf of women and let them speak for themselves. If people CHOOSE to work in that field, that's up to them. They don't need you making stupid claims about it being misogynistic and speaking for them. Also, it's an adult rated game. Get over it.

  12. As a woman, i want to chime in. I understand you being a father of girls has changed your perspective. However, as a woman i know places like strip-clubs and brothels help to keep aggression towards women down. In countries where they are outlawed or nonexistent the cases of @%$# and other violent acts towards women are way higher then countries where they are allowed, and even less when they are regulated. Therefore i have no problems seeing them in real life or in games. They perform a function, and have a place in every civilisation. If your girls are old enough to play this game, they are already old enough to understand this.

Since, obviously, nothing of the proposed will never appear in the game, I reasoned that since I do not like the fact that the game forces me to repeatedly grind the same sad quests (because the trader's rewards are too high and it takes very little time to complete quests located close to the base) i have to simple delete the trader. So, 1. I removed all traders from the POI list 2. Installed the Undead Legacy mod (since it, among other things, removed the free opening of all important recipes in the game just for levels, here you can die of hunger and here there is at least some kind of death penalty. I think UL is best big mod btw) 3. Reduced the loot to 50%, disabled loot respawn, set the difficulty level Warrior (there is even no need for the Insane difficulty level at nightmare speed, without 600 rounds (for three people) for each completed tier 1 quest, it becomes quite difficult to play) And voila, the game became really fun and interesting. We've been surviving for 40 days now, looking for food, moving around a huge 12kmap, looking for a claw hammer to create a workbench (lol), all the time trying to figure out how to defend ourselves against the bloody moon based on what we have, do what we want instead of a stupid grind of quests, we have the option not to push the int attribute for the sake of the imbe perks associated with the trader (Barter and Adventurer). We save ammo, and this is my first time hunting with bow in this game and so on. In general, the game has become unrealistically cool. I advise everyone to delete the trader and play with real pleasure as true enjoyer.

  15. Hi all, just wanted to share my latest (and overall second) Prefab build yet. The build is massive. This is the castle Eltz in Germany and I have built it entriely from Google Maps, images and its blueprint, even though, I have not been there yet. That is a bummer. So far, it took me 150+ hours to finalize the layout, structure and details. I am now in the last steps of adding sleepers and I will still have to test and play it before uplading it to Nexusmods. Its approx. size is 125 blocks wide, 230 blocks deep and at maximum 60 blocks high. You can explore the castle as you like, as it is not a dungeon. So far, it is not planned to be questable. Most likely it will receive an update for A20.   16. @Genosis - this came up in one of the dev streams. I don't fully understand why, but there is a hard ceiling on the number of paint textures they can have -- so the only way to add new ones is to remove existing ones. Fair point. I guess I'm just trying to learn if we will see some tangible performance gains. I've been doing readers digest versions of the dev streams and showing off all the new sexy stuff you all are doing and I get a lot of comments that says ... holy @%$# this looks amazing ... followed by ... OMG my potato of a computer can barely run A19. So this is just me checking in to see what the performance plans are ... cause I want more people playing your awesome creation!

  17. It was replaced with a model including the texture. Blocks can be created with arbitrary textures (within reason, I suppose), but paintable textures are limited. Or, at least, that's what I gathered.

  19. Some have been improved, but no new ones for A20 I think. There are talks to deprecate some of the old ones that are not used often and replaced with new ones. A good example is the old beer texture.

  20. I just tried this myself. If it ever worked before, it's sure not working now. I was thinking maybe I was confusing it with another issue where the turrets would target hired NPCs. But that's not it. Hired NPCs won't take any damage from the turrets, but the turrets still fire at them (basically just wasting ammo). The behavior is exactly the same even without including any of the tags that are on the turret entity classes. It doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. I could swear that it used to work, but it was a long time ago. I'm thinking it used to work in A18 but something changed in either the vanilla game or Core (vanilla is more likely). Or I was just wrong that it ever worked, and added that tag for nothing. I did look in the Core code, and it might be possible to get turrets to use faction targeting, but that would require code changes and those usually break game saves. Plus, with A20 coming up soon, this will all have to be reworked anyway. So, unfortunately, I don't think this problem is going to be solved in A19. I will bring it up in the discord channel for the creature packs. Maybe there's a solution that someone else knows about.

  26. Sandbox or not isn't the difference I'm talking about. Unturned is minimalist in textures and graphics and voxels whereas 7 Days to Die is pushing the envelope. Getting smoother animations is a function of performance. Turn all your video settings down to minimum and you will see gains in how smoothly you move and animate at the expense of a nice looking world. At the same time, by doing so, 7 Days to Die and Unturned will start being a more similar comparison. You said it. They are good and have more than enough skill and therefore there really is something happening that makes it appear poor and why on your computer Unturned would feel so much smoother than 7 Days to Die. When I recently upgraded my computer the game felt MUCH smoother than it had. I've watched videos of people with much much better rigs than I have and I noticed how much better their animations were and how smooth everything was compared to my own plays.

  28. Thanks, Matt! I'm now building out the underground parts from Death Toll: Riverside Tunnel and the sewers from rounds 1 & 2. It'll be another deal like DT_Downtown, where it's deliberately not sprawling, but the memorable parts are condensed together to fit into one large POI. So that'll be a Tier 4 I'm estimating, and then I plan to do some standalone buildings (Tier 1 or non-questable) from the finale. At that point I believe one could almost, if they wanted to, string together all these POIs on a custom map and have a reasonably representative facsimile of the whole campaign. I'm not saying it's a good idea, but you could. The roof of No Mercy hospital may be Left 4 Dead's most iconic setting. The roof itself wouldn't be too bad to make (I've looked), but it's on top of a skyscraper, where you never see the inside of most of the floors in L4D. It's definitely not the lowest hanging fruit, but I'll keep thinking about how it could be feasible.

We got construction workers, and cops....got a biker dude wearing leather but needs to change the hat...they have talked about adding the native american casino right Roland?..........so The Chief is not far off maybe. I say they do this, probably public domain by now anyways. I wanna see the infected do YMCA on Horde night.

  30. I've tried to avoid this subject, for political reasons because women seem to be overlooked quite a bit in a lot of hot button topics that are absolutely related to women. I will not speak for them. However, I would like to point out that human history is rife WITH the exploitation of women (and others, with or without their permission) and to erase any semblance of that historical exploitation (with or without their permission) is literally just as bad as saying it never existed. I have personally observed that some of these things serve a purpose to be a trophy for the things that they have overcome. A fine example of this is how Tina Turner kept her last name after dumping Ike, because she fought so hard to keep it. Its not a universal practice, but wouldn't it be best to teach our children how flawed we are, with the intent to give them examples of how better to treat each other regardless of the circumstances that created such division?

  33. Well that's not completely true. While most people (male or female) accept as a reality of life that strip clubs exist somewhere-- even within their own city, most would probably not want one to open up in or too near to their own neighborhood. So there is probably at least a little bit bad about them in the minds of most people. But...even though I wouldn't want one in or near my own neighborhood in real life, I have no problem with them being in the game. I mean they are not even depicted as being in business but are instead closed and boarded up like everything else in the post apocalypse except for the Trader stations. But even if the Duke's casino gets added and if there is a currently operating stripper club in that casino, I wouldn't be against that being in the game. Just like life, we simply avoid places we don't want to go if we feel that it is wrong to go there. I think the game is better for presenting moral dilemmas and choices-- not just to the character but to the player. If a person has a moral code that prohibits them from going to a strip club then there should be no problem with one being in the game. They just need to follow their moral code. If they are afraid they might be weak willed in keeping to their code then they can mod out the POI or just move on to a game that doesn't make them face their inner demons. Everyone is different. I have a friend who is an alcoholic and he won't everr enter a bar again for the rest of his life because he doesn't want to walk the edge of the cliff and feels more secure staying well back and away from the temptation to break his promise. Others with a stronger will could probably sit in a bar easily and stick to their vow to never drink again.

  34. I play 7DTD with my wife, she doesn't care about it and didn't even notice it. Strip clubs exist, every town has one. I think the vast majority of women aren't offended by things like this and don't expect special treatment or protection. Yours is a fairly Victorian mindset in my opinion, the belief that women have more delicate sensibilities and must be protected from crass humor or sexual imagery. There are plenty of games nowadays that pander to people who are easily offended, you've got a huge lineup to choose from.
