  1. That is generally true, but not all the time. At 4k on a RTX 2070 with higher video settings I become GPU bound, so end up turning some video settings down. DLSS would potentially save some GPU, giving a higher FPS without having to turn down some settings.

  2. yes, opt out of beta. the stable build does not get the proper id until the next experimental. now when you opt out, you will not see anything change if you or whomever already had latest exp build because its the same thing.

  8. From here, you should post a thread in the support forum with your output log attached. Missing or failing textures means there is some issue with how your graphics card is interacting with the game. It could be game side as in missing textures which could be handled by doing a full clean and then verifying your files. Or it could be a failure of some kind with your graphic card or lack of memory. Your output log will give info on your memory and gc driver. But if you want to try first opening the game launcher when you first start the game and then select the tools tab and select Clean and then check all boxes and clean up your registry and then go into steam and verify the integrity of your files that would be a good place to start. After doing that start a new game and if the problem still exists upload the output log for that most recent play and start a thread in support. er...yes...removing all mods and testing in Vanilla is also an often fruitful avenue. When you add the mods back in do them one at a time and test to isolate the one causing the texture flicker.

  9. I would check to see if there is an update for your graphics card. Sometimes your automatic installer doesn't update your card automatically.

  10. Also, If A19.5 ends up being the last .x version of A19, then after A20 arrives all of the other A19.x versions will be removed from the list and only A19.5 will remain. Every previous alpha only has one representative version for that Alpha but at the time there were several as we moved through the experimental phases.

  11. The beta list is for alternative branches to the stable version. You never need the beta list to play the stable public version of 7 Days to Die. People who have never ever opted in to any beta are playing 19.5 because that is the version that Steam automatically pushes when you select automatic updates. The only reason you would not get 19.5 automatically is that you have gone in and selected one of the betas from the list. So, yes, select "none" and you will leave the beta opt in mode and return to the normal public update mode which happens to be 19.5 BTW, latest_experimental is exactly what it sounds like-- the current experimental branch. Presently, that branch is not available to the public and has been unavailable since 19.5 became stable. So latest_experimental WAS 19.5 when 19.5 was experimental. But when 19.5 became stable then latest_experimental went away.

  13. Yeah so im just mainly looking for the highest fps in 1440p ultra settings. The thing that just mainly sparked this whole thing is that my buddy with a 2070 super, was getting higher frames than me in 1440p ultra. That aggravated me because a 3080 is more powerful than a 2070 super of course. But if it is like you said and upgrading the cpu could get more performance. Then i might just do it. He has an intel based system and im not entirely sure of his cpu but i know it has 10 cores. Another buddy of mine has been offering a ryzen 9 5900x he has at a discounted price. Would it be worth my time to take it and get a little more performance on 7 days and future proof my system for a good bit? Also thank you for everyone responding and actually being helpful. This is the first forum i ever posted on and it is suprising to me to see how nice it is and how much players just know.

  15. Did this testing include switches and relays on the other side? For example Spit - block - relay Spit - block - block - relay I know on some of my past base builds I had cop explosions take out relays on the other side but not the block in front of it, but wasn't sure about the spit attack. Granted, my new designs, accounting for explosions, should prevent spit from taking them down; but I am curious if it is possible 🙂

  16. If you are going to want more zombie variation, it will probably have to be through mods. Check out enZombies by @ErrorNull and A19/A18 CreaturePacks by @xyth. Also a few others (for example - Snufkin's Custom server Side Zombies by @arramus). However, not all mods are compatible with each other so read up on the description page. MM stated that they are removing some variants (like the cheerleader and football player) and reworking existing zombie models, but never indicated that they were looking at adding 50 more zombies like you been asking for awhile. Maybe more special type zombies (The Hawaiian tourist is being worked on to do a gas attack - sorry @MaxTunnerX you will probably have to exclude more variants in your casual mod down the road) are being worked on, but the majority of new character models will be bandits (things can change, but this seems to be the current roadmap based on Development streams I have watched).

I did think about using the control system the same as bdubyah's as we tweaked his together in the early days of the MD500 to try and get a reasonable feel and get some hover going on it , I agree roll on the helicopter would be nice but so far have not been able to produce anything due to limitations of the vehicle controller. The reason i went with these 'manux' style controls is that it reduces the camera jitter , you could try removing the last two forces 6 and 7 as they produce the tilt forward and backward depending on wether you are landing or taking off but if you hit anything it will not correct itself on accent or decent. I will revisit the Helicopters side again at some point in A20 so hopefully can improve the xml more but you could also try the MD500 vehicles xml file with the hind ... the main limitation with that style of control is the forward speed.   19. Don’t get me wrong, your opinions on how much gas this game will have after final release (along with Roland’s) are good and thought provoking. I just have an issue when people start throwing out numbers with no data behind to back it up. Even if your conclusions and assumptions are solid, numbers without data leaves you open for others to poke holes in your stance. It’s the engineer in me. Same thing about people calling themselves experts, but can’t tell the difference between Minnesota and Michigan, or make up non-existing places as proof.

  21. 7dtd is a heavily cpu bound game, the extra performance of solutions like dlss come into play with the gpu not having to render the game at full Res. So it's benifit in 7dtd would be limited at best. Also dlss is only available as far as I know on 2000 and 3000 series gpus, so if you have a modern gpu you're not going to benifit from the performance uplift of having the gpu do less work, since mid to high range gpus don't even get full utilisation at full res as it is, due to being cpu bound.

While I didn't mean to imply that Unity doesn't do the rendering to any or some extent, the change is tougher than I thought, AND a ton of work, as it means chopping a lot of already-done code to get ... cool brand-new script-managed graphics in C# ? that sounds like a punch in the gut. BUT You guys (probably) will eventually make the decision to chop your built-in one nevertheless. Why? 1-Because HDRP allows for a huge amount of graphics options for developers. 2-HDRP supports DLSS natively. And 7dtd needs all the performance it can get. 3-HDRP supports Ray Tracing. Downsides to HDRP are training for artists and programmers, which might take a few weeks. That's a big one.

  23. i do work as a software developer, websites and small sized software tho, no games. I understand what you are telling me. I do have close friends who work in game dev, one of them worked on the newly released F1 2021 so what i've heard from him, while he also plays the game, is that TFP are indeed slow and a bit too detached from the community (incase of roadmaps, announcements, etc, especially for an early acces), but to be fair they do put out great work when it eventually arrives. I love this game, so that's why im a bit upset with the slow evolvement of it. Im unironically thankful for this reply of yours, very civil and you clearly know what you are talking about. I've had other discussions with an unnamed moderator who answered very salty and without any counter arguments, prob cuz he doesn't have the same knowledge. Sorry if my previous reply seemed a bit salty itself, was my bad. Thx again for taking your time to answer my comment and providing me with new insights.

  24. @ErrorNull I've use CreaturePackHumans and CreaturePackZombies (also Stallionsdens zombie modifications 2) and after install your mod there start spawning green and red Zs all around the world. After removing your mod - spawn return to normal. What I did wrong?

  26. What do you think would happen IRL if you closed up all the ammo manufacturing plants for a few years? Still think there would be more ammo than guns? In game makes perfect sense in that regard. Tell me how many people are gonna be able to reproduce primers for casings?

The more extremely divergent the gameplay you desire is from the designed intended gameplay the developers are creating, the less likely that there will be an official mode to support that fringe way of playing. However, the devs have provided the means through xml editing for people to get the extreme results they want. You purchased a game advertising itself as an open world survival vs zombies game. In the store description of the game by the developers it reads in part: "players must explore the open world alone or with friends to build tools, weapons and shelter against the dangers of the reanimated dead". The game you want is extremely divergent from what the devs are creating so if I were you, I would stop wasting time rooting for an official mode for the level of casual gameplay you are desiring or thinking that there will ever be a way to go as far as you want without modding. Modding is going to be the key to your type of fun. Period. This is a good thing and something to be grateful for because a lot of games cannot be altered in such extreme ways. I don't say this to bust your balls for wanting to play the game casual. I'm glad that it is possible that you can. But you should recognize that you have an extreme view and while anything is possible in the multiverse, I just don't see the devs spending resources making an official mode that is going to go as far as you want. There may end up being a few more options like what we have now that can be selected but you should plan on always in the future for as long as this game holds your interest-- needing to mod it to the level you are rooting for. It would be the same for someone who hates zombie games but bought this one anyway hoping and rooting for the devs to replace zombies with alien pirates someday. That is just not going to happen. Now, a modder who felt the same way might be able to go in and replace all the zombie models with alien pirate models and then it could be a reality but the developers aren't going to spend time and resources changing their own game into something completely different than they planned. Sorry if that is disappointing. I get it. I like playing without any indicators on the screen. No toolbelt, compass, time, messages, status icons, no HUD at all-- just the world. Madmole called that an extreme way of playing and flat out said they wouldn't spend any time creating an option for invisible HUDS-- but that that type of gameplay falls in the realm of modding. Would I love for a simple menu option to make all the screen indicators invisible and still be able to interact (F7 doesn't function fully all you smartypants)? Absolutely. But the only way that is going to happen is through mods and I think the way you want to play the game is even more divergent than mine, tbh. Thank goodness for modding!

  30. Seems to work - sort of. This Arlene completely ignored my advances. Just walked away from me. But she also didn't fight back if I attacked. So need to fine-tune if we want them to behave like boars. Edit: okay figured it out. You just need to do this one: <property name="AITarget-4" value="SetNearestEntityAsTarget" data="class=EntityPlayer,0,0,EntityNPC,0,0"/> <!-- class, hear distance, see dist (checked left to right, 0 dist uses entity default) --> Delete the part in orange and zombies won't auto-target you when you're around, but if you shoot them then they'll fight back. Dunno if this has any effect at all on BMH night, but I assume a casual player would just turn that off anyhow.

  33. Why do you think the devs will just follow your ideas for the game? I don't know if the vultures will eventually be changed or not, but they were made that way on purpose. Just saying. I found a comment on one of the lines that "IsEnemyEntity" is used to flag the entities that will be removed when you select to turn off all enemies in the options. So sadly a red herring. But I like Boidsters suggestion,sounds promising

  34. Everybody plays it differently and there is nothing wrong with that. Play it based on the settings and mods you want, not what you other people play the game. It is all about your enjoyment, not some "pre-determined" way to play this game.

  38. any idea why the cities are all raised or lowered creating those odd earth walls? I even tried a flat map and the cities are raised or lowered no matter what I try. I tried removing the city height info but it still janky. Is there any way to just force the cities to follow the earth contour?

Madmole has stated that LBD is not coming back, so I seriously doubt they will put forth any development resources to create a game that does both the current system and the LBD system. Most likely you will need a mod to do this (Darkness Falls does it already).

  41. Actually, Madmole has stated that even sealed crates aren't intended to represent factory sealed crates from before the apocolypse. Given that is true, it would probably be best at some point for TFP to change the presentation so as to not give a false impression (or provide some reason why NPCs in the world are boxing things up in nailed shut crates....). However, it does indicate that despite the deceptive visual cues, pretty much everything really has been touched before in the minds of the developers and since they are establishing the balance of ammo in the world it really only matters what their intention is.

  42. What you're looting in game is obviously something no-one has ever touched before, so no, it doesn't make any sense there are more guns than ammo there. In later game, sure, why not, at least if people only keep taking ammo and not the guns, but that's it.

  43. Oh come on, last week I started a thread in the forum asking for game changes and people were like "fk off get mods or get out of this game. Absolutely unheard of to change game to how YOU like it, the game must be the way WE like it or how MM wants it". This thread has some helpful people in it but I bet most of posters here disagree with the game having a casual mode in the future or getting easier (via server settings), which is what I'm rooting for. Without mods. I'm only modding because there is no other way yet. And it's logical that there are more dislikes than likes on this topic too, because people who agree with me usually stopped playing this game some time ago and they don't even go to the forums anymore. @Boidster Thanks for the effort boidster, although from the picture and the text above ti it seems you were trying to molest Arlene . In any case, did you change that property specifically on Arlene or it applies to all zombies?

  44. As far as vultures go, you can see the previous page on how to deal with them right now. I think turning them into chickens is a fitting revenge. Then you just wait for devs to fix them. I somewhat agree with the guns. I really liked it when there were molds in the game and you just crafted the parts and then crafted the weapons or just found the parts and stuff. Nowadays guns are more frequent than friggin' antibiotics and funnily enough, than ammo. Makes no sense there are more guns than ammo. Not only it doesn't make sense (compared to real life) but it straight enrages me when games do this to me. I have like a million pistols and no bullets to shoot. Total absurdity. Thank god for the creative menu where I can spawn my ammo. As for 4x4 I have used it once and then never after, because it's super slow, basically like a bicycle, so why bother. Haven't really noticed any terrain deformations other than street signs and stuff, but I surely heard the sounds when I crashed into something. Anyway I'm just using bicycle and gyrocopter and I'm happy as can be.

  45. Been playing for ages. A15 or 16was probably my fondest memories, but we play on next to max difficulty now. My only complaint is the damn vultures. Their movement is so janky they are harder to hit than anything else, and what the heck is with them turning into Superman when you mount ANYTHING? I have a helicopter (thanks to bdubya for this, it is his work) mod on the server. It goes 25m/s. If I get into it vultures seem to swarm from miles around and hit this giant metal beast so hard it goes out of control. Oh and usually in two hits or so I have infections, bleeding, and all kinds of crap. Same for the jeep, minibike, motorcycle, gyrocopter, or even bicycle. Turn that off! If I am not bleeding a vulture should not attack, nor should it be able to make travelling by vehicle slower than by foot due to constant attacks. I guess a second problem is that the loot being scaled to gamestage. It makes everything predictable. I miss being on day one and finding that one purple item, be it a gun, tool, or piece of armor. It really made me want to go at it harder. Now you KNOW you can't get anything decent unless you level. I imagine this is a work in progress though and expect it to evolve. The game IS under active development after all, and things will change regularly. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Just give it time. Beyond the vultures turning into rocket-powered, god-mode hellspawn, I enjoy the game. I wish we could build weapons like in the past (find the internal parts and assemble them), but that may change again too. If it wasn't fun I wouldn't play or participate here. Oh! One big thing that bugs me is that literally EVERYTHING destroys the terrain! Bullets, arrows, that stupid cow-catcher on the 4x4. I stopped driving my jeep around when I got bdubya's helicopter because I was sick of having to stop, turn almost 90deg, and inch up hills to prevent knocking holes in the roads.
