Spears lose their materials when thrown

Bug Description:

When you throw a spear it loses its materials (turns pink) until it lands and then regains them.

 

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

 

1) Equip any spear (stone, iron or steel)

2) Use secondary attack (throw)

3) Watch it turn pink as it flies
4) Returns to normal once it lands

this happens with arrows too FWIW. My own arrows look fine, but other players arrows are the same pink textureless projectile as the spear.
